Photograph the 7th wonder of the natural world on a unique week long safari
10th August - 17th August 2025
This safari is purely based on the Great Wildebeest Migration and gives the guests a once in a lifetime opportunity to witness and photograph this amazing natural spectacle.
The safari will begin in Nairobi (10th August 2025), where upon arrival, the guests will spend 1 night at the Nairobi Serena Hotel. The following day (11th August 2025), they will catch an early morning internal flight from Nairobi's Wilson Airport to the Maasai Mara where for the next six days, (11th-16th August 2025), they will have exceptional opportunities and interactions to photograph the great herds of wildebeest, zebras, Thomson's gazelle and eland as they make their way to the rocky landscape of the Maasai Mara from the vast endless plains on the Serengeti National Park in the South in search of greener pastures.
Over the course of the safari, guests will also encounter the famous big cats of the Maasai Mara that include lions, cheetahs and the elusive leopards. Big cat activity during this period is at an all time high. The months prior to the herds making their way to the Mara, due to the limited number of prey and long grass, the big cats are usually famished and often turn to scavenging. They take advantage of the arriving herds to replenish their fat and energy reserves. Other small and extremely rare cats can also be encountered during the safari, such as serval cats, caracal cats and the African wild cat. This also a great time to photograph the Big-5 (Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Rhino and Buffalo).
The main highlight of this trip is to witness the river crossings, where thousands upon thousands of animals cross the treacherous waters of the Mara River in order to find fresh green shoots of grass. Waiting beneath the surface of the water are giant nile crocodiles, who have stayed months on end without a sufficient meal and this is the prefect opportunity for them to gorge themselves.
Aatish & Aashit will be your personal guides and photographic instructors throughout the entire duration of your safari. They will share their extensive knowledge of the wildlife, flora and fauna not only of the surrounding areas, but also the different parks and reserves of Kenya. To get the perfect photograph it is important to be able to study the animal and understand it's overall behaviour, so as to perfectly position the vehicle and most importantly not to harass the animal or destroy the environment in any way possible.
